Singapur ist wirklich sehr multikulti, und alle leben friedlich in Nachbarschaft miteinander - ein Beispiel dafür, daß es geht!!!Am Mittwochabend haben wir nach Burkis Feierabend noch Little India besucht, einen Stadtteil, in dem meist Inder/Hindus wohnen (liegt nahe, was? :-), aber auch muslimische Inder und Chinesen. Und mittendrin stand dann auch noch eine christliche Kirche... Das Viertel war echt ganz anders als alle anderen, und ich fand´s super - Indien würde ich eines Tages auch noch gern sehen! Nachdem wir einen sehr schönen, alten Tempel besucht haben, gönnten wir uns ein leckeres, original indisches Abendessen - wir haben einfach ein Restaurant ausgesucht, wo möglichst viele Einheimische drin saßen :-) Nachdem man uns dann sehr lieb und hilfsbereit erklärt hatte, wie man mit der (rechten) Hand isst, haben wir es uns richtig gut gehen lassen - herrlich exotisch, und eine tolle Erfahrung! Singapore is really multicultural, and a very good example to prove that it actually IS possible for many different religions to live together easily!!! Wednesday evening we visited Little india, a neighbourhood where hindoo Indians, muslim Indians and Chinese live peacefully together - and even a christian church was found in the middle of it!!! This neighbourhood was very different, and for that I liked it very much - it made me wanting to visit India itself one day... After visiting an old, beautiful temple we choose a restaurant with as many locals in it as possible (always a good sign), and had an original indian dinner there... people explained friendly and happily to us how to eat with the (right) hand, and we indulged in the delicious food - that was a fabulous and exotic experience!!!
Dienstagabend haben wir uns mit Jack, einem Bekannten von Burki, getroffen, um die "New Asia Bar" im 71. Stock des Swissôtel unsicher zu machen - ich kann Euch sagen, das war ein Ausblick - und mit ein paar leckeren Cocktails zusammen genossen, einfach unschlagbar! Zum Abendessen hat uns Jack wieder nach Chinatown gebracht, aber mit einem Einheimischen als Führer ist das nochmal was ganz Anderes! Es gab einen Tisch zum bersten voll mit Essen, dass ich noch nie versucht hatte, und dazu "Hundertjähriges Ei": das ist das schwarze, fast schon gelierte Schwabbelzeug das da auf Burkhards Löffel zu sehen ist... und ja, er hat es gegessen... ich hab es erst gar nicht übers Herz gebracht, es auch nur zu probieren :-) Das neue chinesische Jahr ist übrigens das Jahr des Hundes... Danke nochmal an Jack für diesen schönen Abend!!!Tuesday evening, we met Jack, a friend of Burki´s to enjoy some cocktails in the "New Asia Bar", at the 71. floor of the Swissôtel - with an amazing view over S. - an exciting experience!!!! Afterwards, we had dinner again in Chinatown, but with such a nice local guide, it was even more interesting!!! We had a table full of goodies I never tasted before, and even "century egg", the brown, wobbly and jelly-like thing on Burki´s spoon - and yes, he ate it!!! I could not bring myself to it, I have to admit...;-) Thank you Jack, for that nice evening!!! The new chinese year is dedicated to the dog, by the way... 
Den Sonntag haben wir bummelnd in Chinatown und danach Tandem-fahrend auf Sentosa Island verbracht :-) Zum Mittagessen gab´s lecker Frosch in Sojasauce mit Ingwer und Zwiebeln (siehe Foto) und eine leckere, frische Kokosnussmilch!!! China Town ist schon wunderbar geschmückt für das chinesische Neujahrsfest das am 27/28.02 stattfindet - zu diesem Zeitpunkt werden wir uns aber leider schon auf Bali in der Sonne räkeln :-) - man kann einfach nicht alles haben (ok, ich höre jetzt auf so fies zu sein ;-)! Sentosa Island war dann zum Ausspannen angesagt - wobei es nur halb entspannend war, da ich Burki´s Elan auf dem Tandem andauernd bremsen musste - ist aber auch doof, so überhaupt keine Kontrolle zu haben, wenn man hinten sitzt - und ihr kennt alle Burki gut genug, um zu wissen, wie sehr ihm da der Schalk im Nacken saß :-) Jedenfalls ist Sentosa eine sehr künstliche aber hübsche Erlebnis-Insel, ausgebaut zum Naherholungsgebiet... kann man mal machen... und dann mehr Zeit mitbringen, als wir sie hatten... Sunday we spent the day in China Town and on Sentosa Island... For lunch we had frog in soy-sauce and ginger and onions (yummi!) (see picture), and then a fresh, cool coconut milk! China Town is already beautifully decorated for the chinese New Year on the 27/28.02, which unfortunately we will be missing, as we will be on Bali already by then! Poor us, I know ;-) (ok, let´s stop beeing mean :-) Later on we discovered Sentosa Island on a tandem-bike (I was sitting on the back seat, and Burkhard obviously enjoyed challenging me by making fun on the bike and "abusing" my lack of control ;-) ! Well, Sentosa is a beautiful but artificial small island constructed to be a recreational area with funparks and so on... but enjoyable for one day or so... when bringing more time than we unfortunately did!

ich hoffe, Ihr seid alle gut im Neuen Jahr angekommen, hattet eine schöne Weihnachtsfeier und seit bereit zum Durchstarten in 2006!!!
Die Feiertage waren mal wieder eine schöne Gelegenheit alte Freunde wiederzusehen, die immer wieder zu Weihnachten hier zuhause eintrudeln, aus allen Winden, in die sie verstreut sind!
Nun hat das Neue Jahr also begonnen, und damit auch die Pflichten: es gibt noch immer Essays zu schreiben für London (Abgabe im März) und auch eine neue Unterkunft muss in Kassel gefunden werden... und nächste Woche Donnerstag geht es schon wieder los, denn ich werde meinen Freund Burkhard in Singapur besuchen!!! Ihr liegt richtig, wenn Ihr denkt, dass ich mich unglaublich darauf freue, ihn nach Monaten wiederzusehen!!! Yippie!!!
Dear all, I hope everyone had a nice christmas time and a good start into 2006!!! Again the holidays have been an excellent opportunity to meet old friends who came back home for X-mas from whereever they live now... it´s been good to see you!!! Now the new year has started, and with it all the duties, that wait for me... still the essays for London :-) and then finding a new place to stay in Kassel, where my uni is situated... but there is also something I am looking incredibly forward to: my trip to Singapore next thursday, where I´ll visit my boyfriend Burkhard for two weeks!!! Yippie!!!
