Einmal typisches Halloween erleben fand und finde ich spannend (wie in Deutschland an Karneval, wird hier auch mehrere Tage lang gefeiert) - aber die Englaender sind nicht ganz so verrueckt wie die Amerikaner... trotzdem gibt es viele Parties, zu denen man verkleidet erscheint, und da haben wir "international students" (so werden wir kategorisiert) uns nichts nehmen lassen, und haben uns alle Muehe gegeben :-) It's exciting to celebrate a typical Halloween here in England, although people seem not as crazy about it as the americans... but of course there are lots of costume parties, which we as "international students" (that's how we are categorized at the institute and in the hall) look very forward to - and some of us made big efforts to dress up!!!
Wir wurden bestaetigt, dass in England doch einiges anders laeuft: es gibt Essig auf die Pommes, Linksverkehr, die Polizistinnen tragen Roecke (sitzen aber immerhin nicht im Damensattel) und: man kommt einfach doch nicht um das Londonwetter drum herum - aber sonst waere die Erfahrung ja auch nicht komplett gewesen!!! :-) Grund genug, sich bei heissem Kaffee und einem tollen Blick ueber den Fluss wieder trocknen zu lassen, bevor es abends wieder heimwaerts ging! Everything is different in England, compared to the continent: they eat their fries with vinegar, drive on the wrong side of the road :-), the police women wear skirts (at least they didn't have to ride a women's saddle) and of course: you just can't avoid the London weather!!!! So make the best of it, and enjoy hot coffee with a nice view while getting dry again!!!
