The End...in the Bay of Islands and Auckland.

The last few days I spent again with my friend Judith, and we went on a trip to the North, Cape Reinga and the Bay of Islands...and when angels travel, the weather is beautiful ;-) We enjoyed the sunshine and the picture perfect beaches, blue waters and the remoteness of it all...(except for when we almost ran out of fuel, that was rather unnerving ;-) ). Thanks Judi for a lovely time and a perfect finish to this wonderful trip!

Die letzten Tage vor meiner Rueckreise habe ich wieder mit Judith verbracht, und wir haben uns zu einem letzten Trip aufgemacht, in den Norden, nach Cape Reinga und der Bay of Islands. Und wenn Engel reisen ist das Wetter ja bekanntlich schoen, und wir haben die Sonne, die endlosen Straende, das blitzeblaue Wasser und die Abgeschiedenheit sehr genossen...bis auf den Moment, wo wir fast mit leerem Tank in the Middle of Nowhere gestrandet waeren, aber ist ja nochmal gutgegangen ;-) Danke Judi fuer einen herrlichen Abschluss eines herrlichen Urlaubs! Ich komme wieder!

The Wedding in Coromandel - Love was in the air!

The highlight of my trip - of course, the wedding! It was a wonderful week, with the most beautiful, lovely people and a dream wedding, with sun, beaches, amazing food and wine, and feeling the love...like a colorful and gleaming snow globe...just that I was IN it!!!!

Das Highlight meines Trips - die Hochzeit(-swoche) natuerlich! Es war eine wundervolle Zeit, voll von grossartigen, lieben Menschen, sonnigen Straenden, kulinarischem Verwoehnt-werden und einer Traumhochzeit...es war wie eine herrliche Schneekugel...nur dass ich IN ihr sein durfte ;-)

Waitomo Glowworm Caves

I just say....abseiling over a 27m abyss, exploring a "lost world" (I felt like in an Indiana Jones movie, no kidding!), admiring the glowworms (they are like worms indeed, not like the little European flying insects), some black water rafting on an inner tube (and jumping backwards from a little 1.5 m cliff...see picture....but it was still a leap of faith, even if it doesn't sound high ;-) ) and then the climb back up...(with all my bouldering experience no problem, thanks to Chris ;-) )....it was soooo much fun!!! And look at those rays of light falling into the cave!!!!

Nach einem 27m Abseilen in die unterirdische Hoehle hab ich mich wirklich wie in einem Indiana Jones Film gefuehlt...Die Gluehwuermchen waren unglaublich (aber es sind eben richtige Wuermer, keine fliegenden Insekten wie in Europa), und auf einem Reifen in der dunklen Hoehle den unterirdischen Bach entlang schwimmen auch...nur rueckwaerts Springen war doch eher eine Ueberwindung ;-) Und zum Schluss nochmal die 27 Meter hochklettern....dank meiner Klettererfahrung mit Chris kein Problem! ;-)

Das hat Spass gemacht!!! Und schaut euch erstmal die Sonnenstrahlen in der Hoehle an!!!!!

Franz Josef Glacier

Definitely one of the highlights! Climbing a glacier is a very special and exciting experience, and above all it is so beautiful up there!!! But then again, it's actually quite dangerous, considering that the glacier moves steadily towards the valley, and changes its surface hourly... We slid through ice caves and tunnels (see the guy in red? he was our guide, and then next pic, the girl was ahead of me, and finally she took a pic of me coming out of the cave - all happy) and walked over crevasses and it was just amazing...it definitely felt like a place that humans shouldn't be, but then, it seems nothing can stop us ;-) Just the weather was overcast, and at the end of the day it rained, so the blue colour did not always come out properly...

Einer der Hoehepunkte!!! Eine Gletscherwanderung ist schon ziemlich aufregend, und die Aussicht ist der Wahnsinn, und der Gedanke dass man in einem Gletscher rumturnt, wo eigentlich keine Menschen sein sollten...Der Gletscher wandelt sich ja stuendlich, und im Grunde ist so eine Wanderung keine ungefaehrliche Angelegenheit...ein beeindruckendes Element...

Wir sind durch Eishoehlen und Tunnels gerutscht (der Typ in Rot war unser Fuehrer und ging voran, und das Maedel in Blau war vor mir...und am Ende hat sie ein Foto von mir gemacht wie ich aus dem Tunnel rauskam), ueber Gletscherspalten balanciert und es war toll! Nur das Wetter war leider etwas bewoelkt, deshalb sind die Blautoene nicht so gut rausgekommen...am Ende hat es auch geregnet, aber wen kuemmerte das schon...;-)

 

Abel Tasman National Park

Kayaking and hiking in the Abel Tasman National Park for 3 days...a thing of beauty! Despite the patchy weather, I had a great time...except the evening after the kayaking...I thought my arms will just fall off then and there ;-)

3 Tage Kajaken und Wandern im Abel Tasman Nationalpark...es war herrlich! Leider war das Wetter ein bisschen unzuverlaessig, und am 2. Tag nach dem Kajaken dachte ich, mir fallen die Arme ab (echt, also ich hab mich gefragt ob es je wieder besser wird ;-) ), aber es gibt eben fuer alles ein erstes Mal, und es war TOLL!

Milford Sound and Te Anau

Enjoying the land of the Lords (of the Rings) between Queenstown and Te Anau, including Milford Sound. The weather is very changeable and windy (see the last pic ;-) ), but it is all part of the experience... Met some nice people along the way...and now heading towards the glaciers on the West Coast...
Ich habe mich staendig wie in einer Szene aus Herr der Ringe gefuehlt, zwischen Queenstown und Te Anau. Das Wetter ist sehr wechselhaft und windig (siehe meine Frisur im letzten Bild), aber das gehoert eben dazu...Viele nette Reisende kennengelernt (halb Deutschland ist hier), und nun mache ich mich auf den Weg an die Westkueste, zu den Gletschern...
